Neptune Connection Problems

Hi

Today I tried first time to update my Neptune (Rel. 2.6.1 D / S/N: G55283).
I use my Laptop (Dell XPS) with Vista Ultimate (integrated IrDA-Interface).

But it doesn't work...
Problem: IrDA hardware not found.

Which XPS model do you have? M1530? M1330? another?

I couldn't find any mention of an integrated IrDA adapter on this Dell product spec page:

Are we talking about the same model?

Yes, we are talking about the same model. You are right, on this description they don't write about a IR-Interface.
But....I have a special "Mini Express Card Remote" (see the 5th picture on the Dell-Website; your web-link). With this device I can steer my Laptop. And I though, this device works with the IR-Interface in front of the laptop....now I'm confused.
I have also another extern IR Interface. I can connect this device with USB. But I have Vista Ultimate and can't find the Vista-Driver for this "old" thing.

It's possible, that my laptop has a IR-RECEIVER, which can't send informations (for example for my Neptune??)...

Yes! IR Receivers will not work with Neptune.

Also, you are correct about older IrDA adapters not working on Vista - they lack drivers.

Try a Cables Unlimited USB-1510; it is known to work on Vista.
