I have read that the "customers" wanted the maximum speed function removed from the Neptune, why is this?

Is it a technical answer to why this has been removed, or was it simply removed because someone did not like it? I think there should have been a choice for have it in the software, it is not in any way in the way...

I see other trackers with this function, and I think it is kind of cool to see at what maximum speed that last jump went in..

I need some explanation here to why it was removed.

The change was made back in Jan 04

Version 2.0.6
Release Date 1/6/2004

Neptune data can now be uploaded to Paralog (http://www.paralog.net/)
The logging function has been updated
Average speed has replaced max speed
Minor improvements to menu structure
New year rollover bug fixedMany users were asking for average speed, at that time we had limited space to display results so we asked as many users as possible if they would prefer average speed to max speed, almost all users said yes.

With V3.0 firmware architecture we have a lot more flexibility in displaying log data, so if there is enough demand we can look at bringing back max speed.

I would very much like to see the Max Speed function back in the Neptune, I know a few others (Neptune users) that also would like that function. It is fun to compare with the people using the Pro-Tracker...

*Crossing my fingers hoping this could happen*

I have strange display in the logs:

My display says

Avg-125
SP1-120
SP2-125
SP3-50
Sp4-14

I thought it was supposed to read

AVG-125
14K-120
10K-120
8k--125
5k--50
2k--14

and I pull at 3k so why is it saying 50 at SP3 and also why does it even say "SP"???

:shake:

When using custom speed groups the Neptune does not dynamically format the output in order to show what altitudes you have selected. Instead it will use SP1 - SP4 to represent the fact you are using custom speed groups.

Anyone know how to change this?

The Speed Group settings are changed only in the Control Panel or NMU. To get back to the standard settings, you click the radio button labeled "Default", and then click Send to update your Neptune.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to do much with the unit you just bought, because the new firmware will reset this for you along with all your other settings. It also clears out your log. Maybe this is ideal for you, since the unit is "new to you", and this will update it to the latest version of the software and at the same time reset everything to a state as if you had purchased it new.

bzreel01 I am sending you important additional info via Private Message and email.
