Hi,

I've purchased the N3 for a work project, nothing to do with jumping out of planes. I have to measure the height above a starting position at various places around the city.

When I received it and had set it up I pressed "Alt" and i'm sure the big numbers 0.0 changed as I moved around. I've now come to use it again after it being in the cupboard for a few months, and the big numbers now do not change. The QNE number does change, but not the big numbers.

I've read through the manual and can't seem to find help regarding this main altitude display. Can anyone advise on whether I imagined it the first time around?

And putting it simply, is there any way I can get this display to change as I move around the city measuring the height above my starting position?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi there,

In it's orignial state, the N3 is continuously measuring altitude above ground level. If it does not detect "take off" it will remain 0.0...even if small changes in elevation occur.

In order for you to use the N3 as you've described you will need to put the unit in "Manual Mode". Manual mode will allow you to set the altitude to 0 where you start and it will cacluate the different altitudes around the city. More information on "Manual Mode" can be found in the users manual on page 45.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance!

Many thanks for your reply. I had neglected to mention that I had already tried manual mode.

I tried it again this morning though, putting in a random starting height (1200 feet) and the display immediately changed to 1.2

This made me realise that it had been measuring previously, but the scale is too large i.e. it needs to measure in the 10's of feet rather than 100's.

Can you tell me how to change this scale as I can find no way to do so?

Hi there,

Unfortunately, there is no way to change the scale to 10's of feet. The N3 was designed specifically for skydiving and canopy piloting functionality, for which this degree of scaling (in manual mode) is not necessary.

Please let me know if you have other questions.
