My Neptune 2 won't let me set ff alarms. Whenever I try to set an alarm higher than 4000, it resets back to 2000. No way to get past 4000. I bought an IrDA, downloaded the latest NMU, updated the firmware, and even tried to set the alarms with NMU, but no luck.
I was thinking about doing the N3 trade in deal and this just might be my excuse...
Do I get an extra discount if mine's having issues anyway? :-P

Hi Keith,
Since when is your Neptune doing this? Ever since you bought it or just recently? What's your serial No.? And are you running firmware 3.2.2 on the unit (you can check by going to "Menu > Demo Mode > Show Screens" then click on the middle button when "Alti-2" is displaying)? You should have the current one when the update was successful with the NMU 3.4.4. Is this happening to freefall alarm 1 only?
We can offer you to upgrade to the N3 if you send in this unit (even if it doesn't work correctly at the moment). Please PM me for details :-)
Thanks, -Ilse

Q: "Since when is your Neptune doing this?"
A: It has been doing this for about a month following 2 years of perfect operation with no updates and one battery change.
Q: "What's your serial No.?"
A: s/n: J80280
Q: "And are you running firmware 3.2.2 on the unit"
A: Rel. 3.2.2 D
Q: "Is this happening to freefall alarm 1 only?"
A: FF1, Alti1: 4800 (When I try to lower the value, it displays "20000".)
FF1, Alti2: 4300 (When I try to raise the value, it displays "2300".)
FF1, Alti3: 1800 (When I raise it past 3800 it displays "1000".)
All other FF alarms have the same issue, although the exact values differ, but you get the point.
If its something simple that I can do, I'll keep this Neptune. If I need to send it back to you, I would rather get an N3 Audio. Just let me know. Thanks.

Hi Keith,
As to your question on setting the alarms, this is the explanation you can find in the User Manual of the Neptune 2 (cp. page 19) and there's nothing wrong with your Neptune 2, it works within its range (thank you for providing the detailled numbers, that really helped!):
Freefall alarms may be set no closer than 500 feet / 150 metres.
The first freefall alarm may not be set at more the 20,000 feet / 6095 metres.
Altitudes are adjustable in 100 foot / 30 metre increments.
The third freefall alarm is the “hard deck” alarm. It may not be set lower than 1000 feet / 300 metres.
These rules affect the range of choices that the Neptune 2 gives you. For example, if the third alarm is set for 1500 feet, and the first alarm is set for 4500 feet, the second alarm is adjustable from 2000 to 4000 feet, in 100 foot increments.
You can download the user manual from our website if you like (PDF, 54 pages):

I sent you a PM regarding the trade-in (we only offer the trade-in for the N3, not for the N3Audio, at this time).
I hope this helps?
Thanks, -Ilse

Perfect!
Thanks for the clarification. Maybe next time I'll save myself some embarrasment and just read the manual, lol!

Not to worry, some guys think that they turn in their "guy cards" when they admit reading manuals -- tough decision right there .. LOL ;-)
